Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
An important representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
